Ian van Coller | Naturalists of the Long Now
A talk by Ian van Coller, whose photo-based project “Naturalists of the Long Now” challenges viewers to think about the vast scales of geologic time through scientific analysis of various planetary archives, such as glaciers, trees, sediments, and fossils. A professor of photography at Montana State University, van Coller is a 2018 Guggenheim Fellow whose work belongs to the Philadelphia Art Museum, the Getty Research Institute, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, among other collections.
