Tong-June Moon's career has taken him from Seventh Avenue to outer space. In this talk, Moon will discuss his transition from New York's fashion industry to the NASA Johnson Space Center’s Softgoods Lab.
After minoring in art in business school, Moon graduated with a degree in fashion design from Parsons New School of Design in 2010. He spent over a decade working in the New York fashion industry as a women’s ready-to-wear designer under Richard Chai, Yigal Azrouel, Rachel Comey, Opening Ceremony, Rosetta Getty, the Row and Raf Simons at Calvin Klein. After completing a Master of Industrial Design at the Rhode Island School of Design in 2021, he was hired to join the Softgoods Lab (SGL) at NASA Johnson Space Center. The SGL designs, develops, and manufactures flight softgoods products and components, including components for spacesuits.
